Keyboard Pendant

As I was listening to my daughter play the piano one evening - my mind began to imagine an image of the black and white keyboard made from glass.

The pendant pictured above measures only 2" long by 5/8" wide. It has the markings of a keyboard with the large black keys nestled between the long white keys.

I simply cut tiny pieces of black glass noodles and stringers and placed them gently on a piece of cut white glass.

The glass is then carefully placed into the kiln where it is fired to a temperature of 1350*. This lower temperature is used in order to simply get the glass to tack itself together.

By tacking the glass together instead of completely fusing it together - the black keys are actually raised up a little higher than the white keys.

"W" Is For .....

Custom-Order (sold)

This is a larger stained glass piece which measures 15" by 15" that I custom-made for a woman who lives with her family in Colorado.

They live in military/base housing so the colors within the homes can be rather bland and drab.

So she uses stained glass in all of her rooms to brighten her day.

Beveled Triangle and Teal Colored Glass

(sold)

Beveled Glass is such a pretty glass to work with. Not only does it cast small rainbows of light throughout the room when exposed to sunlight - the reflections are almost as pretty as the glass.

This little piece was made using a triangle bevel surrounded by a dark teal colored glass. Small square beveled glass cap off the corners for additional beauty.

Pentagram Stained Glass Panel

(sold)

Stars aren't just for Texas!

This is a pretty crystal clear star (which twinkles in the sun) surrounded by pretty sapphire blue rippled glass.

I crafted this piece into the shape of a pentagram after receiving a pretty peridot necklace from another artist friend of mine.

Mexican Zarape

(sold)

Living in the Arizona desert allows me to go on many day trips.

On one of my recent trips, my family and I went down to Rocky Point, Mexico and camped out on one of the sandy beaches and took in the sights, sounds and flavors of Mexico.

While shopping I saw huge stacks of Mexican Zarape blankets which are created using bright, vivid colors and patterns.

So - I came back home and made this stained glass window panel using the colors of the Mexican Zarape blanket.

You may notice a small beaded charm hanging near the center of the piece. I added this little treasure in to represent the fringe that is added to the edges of the blankets.

Bird-Saving Stained Glass Iris

This panel was drawn and is being created for the sake of the birds.

A friend of mine has a window that birds love to fly into. However, by doing so, it usually hurts them badly or kills them.

In order to keep our feathered friends healthy and away from her window, I am making this pretty Iris stained glass panel to be hung in the window to ward off any suicide attempting birds.

This panel is currently in the work-in-progress stage. Check back soon for the completed piece.

Colors in this panel include kelly green leaves, dark aqua and dark blue for the petals of the iris and chunky clear for the back ground. The chunky clear glass is crafted in a way that it actually twinkles (like ice) when exposed to sunlight.

Winter / Spring Solstice

(sold)

A five-piece beveled glass star shining in the center of the piece.

Looking at the nighttime sky I was inspired to make a piece with the different phases of the moon. The deep purple glass has whispy streaks of white running through it. They appear to be clouds, stars and the moon against the dark sky.

Eagle or Black Crow?

(sold)

It started out to be a black crow but it looks more like an eagle. I guess it can be whatever you want it to be.

Pictured above is a fused glass pendant made for the monthly eBay Nibblefest (NFAC) contest.

This pendant is made by painting a picture on a piece of off-white glass. When dry, another small piece of light amber colored glass is placed on top then fired in a kiln to reach 1480* over a time period of 14 hours.

NFAC is a monthly themed contest where artists create an item using a pre-determined theme for each month. Each artist is encouraged to use various mediums to create their art.

Feathered Friends is the theme for March. Every artists entering a piece will list one item beginning at .99 each and see where it goes from there.

So, search eBay for NFAC and see the pretty items available this month.

Peace Swap with Scotland

On the soldering station. Pieces of glass are taped together with copper then soldered together to create an image. Once every piece of glass is in place, the piece will be coated with a dark patina finish.

Patina is added to the glass and solder to give it an antique or vintage look. Soon a chain will be added then cleaned and polished.

(Hanging in Scotland)

Etsy Peace Swap - this is a project I am involved with where artists from throughout the world swap something in the name of Peace.

This piece is crafted to pay honor to Robert The Bruce of Scotland.

Posted above is the finished piece. All the glass is cleaned, polished and buffed to a beautiful shine. Soon this piece will be on it's way to Scotland.
