A Rainbow Circle

I enjoy creating something in glass that may appear to be difficult.

For instance - making a circle out of glass.

Using the six colors of the rainbow I cut and shaped each piece of glass to fit snuggly next to each remaining piece.

The colors of the rainbow are so bright and so vivid it isn't difficult to find which colors to use.

River of Confetti

This stained glass panel was crafted using the copper foil method. Each piece of glass is carefully cut and shaped to a very specific shape.

A thin piece of copper tape is adhered to the outside of each piece of glass then soldered into place.

A thick frame of zinc is attached to the circumference of the entire piece before hoops are applied.

This piece reminds me of a river flowing through the forest picking up flowers and leaves as it flows.

Christmas Tree in the Moonlight

As I was in the studio last week listening to my iTunes (Van Morrison) I was inspired to make a moon-beam and Christmas tree stained glass panel.

If you look at the photo just imagine five pretty evergreen pine trees lined up in the forest. You can also imagine the light of the full moon casting a shadow from the trees onto the amber-colored forest floor.

1960's Retro Flower Power

I love the 1960's. The color - the freedom - the music - everything!

Nibblefest (NFAC) is a monthly themed-contest on eBay where artists of all mediums will list an item based on the current months theme.

The theme for September is 'RETRO'.

So making a stained glass piece using the retro theme was simple for me. The colors of the 1960's are so bright and vivid - the flower power stained glass piece was a natural fit for this month.

Preview of Nibblefest Entry - Grey Tom Cat

Each month on eBay there is a contest sponsored by the Nibblefest (NFAC) group. The theme for the month of August is 'Illustrate a Poem.' Each entry into the NFAC contest begins at only .99 each. The contest continues for seven days.

Since I have an un-dying love for kitties - I searched the internet for a poem about kitties. Not only did I discover an abundance of kitty poems - I found the perfect poem for my entry.

Search eBay for 'NFAC' beginning at 4pm on the 20th of each month for themed entries.

This pretty little grey tom cat measures about 8.5o inches high by 8.5o inches wide. He has a pretty fused glass tag hanging from his collar. He is looking for a new home.

Mexican Zarape

(sold)

Living in the Arizona desert allows me to go on many day trips.

On one of my recent trips, my family and I went down to Rocky Point, Mexico and camped out on one of the sandy beaches and took in the sights, sounds and flavors of Mexico.

While shopping I saw huge stacks of Mexican Zarape blankets which are created using bright, vivid colors and patterns.

So - I came back home and made this stained glass window panel using the colors of the Mexican Zarape blanket.

You may notice a small beaded charm hanging near the center of the piece. I added this little treasure in to represent the fringe that is added to the edges of the blankets.

Fused Glass Saguaro Cactus

(sold)

This is a pretty fused glass Saguaro Cactus made for a woman living in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Every time she comes to visit in Arizona she is amazed at the size and beauty of these cacti.

So, I crafted this piece using three layers of glass which is fired in the kiln to 1480* then left to cool for about 14 hours.

Eagle or Black Crow?

(sold)

It started out to be a black crow but it looks more like an eagle. I guess it can be whatever you want it to be.

Pictured above is a fused glass pendant made for the monthly eBay Nibblefest (NFAC) contest.

This pendant is made by painting a picture on a piece of off-white glass. When dry, another small piece of light amber colored glass is placed on top then fired in a kiln to reach 1480* over a time period of 14 hours.

NFAC is a monthly themed contest where artists create an item using a pre-determined theme for each month. Each artist is encouraged to use various mediums to create their art.

Feathered Friends is the theme for March. Every artists entering a piece will list one item beginning at .99 each and see where it goes from there.

So, search eBay for NFAC and see the pretty items available this month.
