Christmas Tree in the Moonlight

As I was in the studio last week listening to my iTunes (Van Morrison) I was inspired to make a moon-beam and Christmas tree stained glass panel.

If you look at the photo just imagine five pretty evergreen pine trees lined up in the forest. You can also imagine the light of the full moon casting a shadow from the trees onto the amber-colored forest floor.

Floating Glass Bubbles

I never get tired of seeing glass bubbles floating into the air.

This is one my favorite pieces to make. Each glass bubble is chosen for color, texture and style.

Chains of Color

When creating a stained glass piece - the pieces of colored glass are typically soldered together to make a panel.

This particular piece is held together with small hoops of wire attached to the corners of each square of glass then by another hoop which holds everything together.

The result of the chains is that the glass actually moves with the wind like a stiff fabric.

Interesting outcome.

"W" Is For .....

Custom-Order (sold)

This is a larger stained glass piece which measures 15" by 15" that I custom-made for a woman who lives with her family in Colorado.

They live in military/base housing so the colors within the homes can be rather bland and drab.

So she uses stained glass in all of her rooms to brighten her day.

Pentagram Stained Glass Panel

(sold)

Stars aren't just for Texas!

This is a pretty crystal clear star (which twinkles in the sun) surrounded by pretty sapphire blue rippled glass.

I crafted this piece into the shape of a pentagram after receiving a pretty peridot necklace from another artist friend of mine.

Arizona Palo Verde Tree

(sold)

Growing in my front yard is a very sturdy blue Palo Verde tree.

As I was watching my pretty calico kitty climb in the tree I quickly sketched a pattern then went into the studio to re-create the tree in glass.

Although Allie (the kitty) can't climb this tree, it hangs in a window in Canada.

Mexican Zarape

(sold)

Living in the Arizona desert allows me to go on many day trips.

On one of my recent trips, my family and I went down to Rocky Point, Mexico and camped out on one of the sandy beaches and took in the sights, sounds and flavors of Mexico.

While shopping I saw huge stacks of Mexican Zarape blankets which are created using bright, vivid colors and patterns.

So - I came back home and made this stained glass window panel using the colors of the Mexican Zarape blanket.

You may notice a small beaded charm hanging near the center of the piece. I added this little treasure in to represent the fringe that is added to the edges of the blankets.

Bird-Saving Stained Glass Iris

This panel was drawn and is being created for the sake of the birds.

A friend of mine has a window that birds love to fly into. However, by doing so, it usually hurts them badly or kills them.

In order to keep our feathered friends healthy and away from her window, I am making this pretty Iris stained glass panel to be hung in the window to ward off any suicide attempting birds.

This panel is currently in the work-in-progress stage. Check back soon for the completed piece.

Colors in this panel include kelly green leaves, dark aqua and dark blue for the petals of the iris and chunky clear for the back ground. The chunky clear glass is crafted in a way that it actually twinkles (like ice) when exposed to sunlight.

Luna - Goddess of the Moon

(sold)

Pictured above is Luna - Goddess of the Moon.

During the winter/spring solstice - the moon and the stars in the nighttime sky were remarkably clear. So I did a little research about the moon and found Luna.

She is celebrated of March 31 every year.
