Artists Sharing Space

I was asked to make some stained glass window panels for two artists who share studio space. They also share their lives.

So my challenge is to create a piece of glass art for two people who also have creative minds.

Oh the pressure!

I decided on an idea of having separate and blended space.

The window panel shows two sources of color in opposite corners of the panel. As the colors flow outward they blend with the color coming toward itself. As a result center of the panel represents sharing space.

So individually the colors are beautiful in themselves. Then as space is shared with another color -- it becomes beautiful in its own right.

Does that make any sense to you?

The first photograph shows the pieces cut and roughly laid into place.

In the second photograph you can see the edges of the glass is ground to perfect size and a dark border of indigo colored glass is added.

The last photograph has the glass surrounded with copper tape and ready to be soldered into a glass panel.
