Pretty Purple Pendant

This pendant is interesting.

I tool small pieces of pretty purple glass and layered them on top of crystal clear glass (lincoln log style) then places very small pieces of black glass on top of that.

After it is fired in the kiln for a while - it is cooled down to room temperature while a silver bail is attached to the top to create a pretty purple pendant.

Viola!

1960's Style Flower Pendant

I have so much fun when I'm able to just go into the studio and play around for awhile.

I'm never quite sure what will come up out of the kiln.

This little pendant reminds me of Goldie Hawn. She was an icon during the 1960's. Not only is she very funny and talented but she seems to have a wonderful family as well.

Anyway, since red is my absolute favorite it only seems appropriate that I tried out this shape using red glass.

Copper Coil Pendant

(sold)

This was an interesting pendant to make.

I wasn't sure what was going to happen when I fired up the kiln earlier this week.

First I found a small piece of copper wire in my husbands work shop and coiled it around itself.

Then I took a black piece of glass with a glitter-like background and placed the copper coil on top of that. Then I placed a clear piece of glass on top of the copper and fired up the kiln.

This time I set the kiln so the glass would simply drape over the copper instead of completely fusing together entirely.

The result is the copper coil is nestled tightly between the glass pieces. I've attached two bails to the top of the piece to form a pretty pendant.

Red Spiral Pendant

(sold)

Wow - imagine wearing this!

I had a lot of fun cutting and making this one.

I got a new glass-cutting saw last week -- and with a few initial mistakes -- the cutting went rather smoothly.

Copper wire is wrapped around the top of this piece to create a pretty bail which holds a black silk ribbon.

Keyboard Pendant

As I was listening to my daughter play the piano one evening - my mind began to imagine an image of the black and white keyboard made from glass.

The pendant pictured above measures only 2" long by 5/8" wide. It has the markings of a keyboard with the large black keys nestled between the long white keys.

I simply cut tiny pieces of black glass noodles and stringers and placed them gently on a piece of cut white glass.

The glass is then carefully placed into the kiln where it is fired to a temperature of 1350*. This lower temperature is used in order to simply get the glass to tack itself together.

By tacking the glass together instead of completely fusing it together - the black keys are actually raised up a little higher than the white keys.

The Golden Tree

(sold)

Fusing together two pieces of clear glass - I placed a golden colored stencil of a tree between each layer of glass.

The glass then gets fired to about 1500* in the kiln then rests overnight.

A channel is then carved into the side of each pendant which is wrapped with copper wire.

Viola! A pretty pendant.
