Custom Butterfly

I was approached by a large, hairy, tough-looking man who was delivering automobile parts to my husbands auto repair shop.

He pulled me to the side and asked me quietly if I could make a stained glass butterfly using dark purple, light pink and green glass. His mother apparently loves butterflies and is now bed-ridden due to illness.

His desire is to give her this large butterfly in hopes of making her last days as pleasant as possible.

As he drove away in his large 4X4 truck with large, noisy side pipes and shiny chrome wheels I was reminded that all people have a soft spot for someone special in their lives.

Green and Golden Glass Nuggets

Shown above is a stained glass panel hand-crafted using three different shades and textures of colored glass.

The kelly green color at the bottom of the panel is very vibrant and shows a lot of color as the sun comes through the panel. A small square of emerald green is tucked into the bottom corner of the piece which adds a touch of elegance. Toward the right side is a piece of avocado green glass.

In addition, green and golden nuggets are surrounded with swirls of wire then securely attached to the clear seedy glass.

Three Glass Birds

Ahhhh -- Spring is in the air.

My kitties are hiding in the flowers with the hopes of catching the grasshoppers as the jump by.

Buds are forming on the trees with the expectation of becoming leaves.

And birds are nesting in high in the trees with the hopes of becoming parents.

This stained glass mobile was crafted into the shape of three green birds.

Shades of Green

This stained glass piece is crafted from various pieces of green, clear, white and confetti-style glass.

While chatting with my grandmother last week about her trip to Ireland, I felt inspired to make something using the green color of Ireland.

In addition to the customary rectangular stained glass panel - I've attached four distinct pieces of square-shaped colored glass to the bottom of this panel.

The result is a window panel that boasts the colors of green but also offers an eye-catching array of sparkle when the smaller pieces move with the air current.

Emerald Green Fused Glass Kitty Food Dish

Ooooo -- pretty emerald green glass with bits of copper tucked into the layers.

This little dish reminds me of The Wizard of Oz.

While experimenting with the kiln and different types of glass -- I twisted different bits of copper wire into odd shapes, placed them between the layers then fired away.

Viola! A pretty emerald green kitty food dish.
